Comparing and contrasting “By the Waters of Babylon” and “Coyote Kills the Giant”
The tail of two journeys may seem very similar because they are journeys. However, “By the Waters of Babylon” and “Coyote Kills the Giant” share some similarities but they are very different. In these two stories both the main characters go on dangerous journeys that test skill and wit. Also, the main characters are very different but face some of the same trials. Their obstacles may slow them down but they overcome them and they are able to achieve their goals.
John is the main character of “By the Waters of Babylon”. He is a priest in training and also the son of a priest. For the greatest part of his life john has been spoon feed what to believe about life outside of his rural forest home. The main goal of John quest is to achieve a high intelligence about the place his family calls the land of the gods. Even though john has heard horrible things about this land of the gods such as, if he was to walk on the land of the gods he would burn where he stood, he continued to pursue this journey. Before John set out for a long journey his father warned him of great danger this trip may bring, Johns father said”this is a very strong dream it may eat you up” without the slight stir of fear john continued on his journey.
In “Coyote Kills the Giant” coyote unlike john, is an arrogant young coyote that has great confidence. He can take anyone or anything down. While walking along he is stopped by and old woman who warns him of what danger that maybe a head like in “By the Waters of Babylon”. The old woman says to coyote “you betters stop going that way, or you’ll meet a giant who kills everybody”. Coyote being the headstrong coyote he is, like john he continued on his journey. Coyote sets out to find the giant and defeat him. Coyote later walks in to what he think is a cave and come in counter with a woman crawling on all fours. He stops to ask her what’s wrong and she replies that she is starving, then she asks him why he had a sick in his hand. Proud coyote tell her he is going to kill the giant. To his disbelief, the woman tells him that he is already in the belly of the giant. Like john did in” “By the Waters of Babylon when he almost got killed by a panther, coyote use his wit to find a way out of the giant’s belly. In the end coyote came out victorious and killed the giant.
John’s reason for his journey differs greatly from coyotes. John wants to seek knowledge about the unknown where as coyote want to try his luck at defeating a giant. Also “By the Waters of Babylon” is a fictional story of a human society. “Coyote Kills the Giant” is a folk tale of an animal that defeats an evil giant. Even though both characters came out victorious in the end they won two totally different battles. John over came ignorance of the land of the gods and coyote reign supreme over an opponent.
In “By the Waters of Babylon” and “Coyote Kills the Giant” both characters face totally different obstacles but in the end both overcome them. John and coyote both risk their lives for something they wanted to do. Both stories share some major similarities such as the both go on journey. Also they are very different for example john is human and coyote is an animal. The two stories connect with each other in an unexpected way without being the same at all.

Prompt: As part of the “the war on drugs” and I reaction to an increase in schools violence, many schools across the nation now conduct targeted searches of students locker and backpacks. Although the Supreme Court has ruled that public school officials have the right to search student’s persons and property when they have reasonable cause to suspect weapons or drugs, many people feel this is a gross violation of student’s right to privacy. Others feel that since school official are responsible for the well being of students while they are in the building they have the right to search for drugs or weapons at any time. How do you feel about the issues? State your position and explain your reasons with specific examples.
I feel that the administration has the right to search student for weapons and drugs because of what has happened in the past. Student has brought drugs and weapons to school. For example the event that happened at columbine. Because no one knew the students had guns on campus they murdered innocent people. Also student that are portrayed on television have brought guns to school and someone didn’t know and they harmed someone. Administrators have to be more cautious and check the students.
The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy is trying to persuade local educators across the country to apply random, suspicion less drug tests by conducting regional summits. This policy is unsupported by available science and opposed by leading experts in adolescent health.
Instead, educators should implement alternatives to drug testing that emphasize education and discussion that will build trust between students and adults. Forcing students to urinate in a cup is not the way to keep them drug-free. (Anthony Papa, New York)

Prompt: many parents give children a weekly or monthly allowance regardless of their behavior because they believe an allowance teaches children to be financially responsible. Other parents only give children an allowance as a reward for completing chores or when they have behaved properly. Explain what you think parents should do.
Children should be able to receive an allowance on the conditions of good behavior. This shows children that behavior affects everything you do and determines what you receive. It also teaches student how it feels to spend and manage their own money. Receiving an allowance is a privilege not a right and parents have to teach their child that everything is to be earned. Nothing is just given to you.
When a child isn’t behaving properly or isn’t doing well in school they shouldn’t receive an allowance of any sort because it teaches them that it’s ok to behave unaccordingly. When parents do this they are only hindering their children. Also, they are spoiling their children. Once the child grows up and has to face the real world they won’t be prepared because their parents didn’t set a good example for them.
In all, an allowance is to be given to children that behave properly. Also it is to be given to children that dose what they are told. If a parent rewards bad behavior it will only hinder the child and teach them the wrong things.

Prompt: in order to save money your principle is thinking of canceling all field trips for the remainder of the year. Write an essay persuading him or her to allow students to continue attending field trips. Use specific reasons and examples to support your response.
Field trips are necessary for a well rounded education. It isn’t fair for students to suffer because the government has taken money from schools. Field trips allow students a day away from school to learn in a different environment. These trips motivate students and give them the drive to excel in school.
Field trips should be a right not a privilege for students. Student should be able to go to a museum and see a sculpture or painting that they are learning about in school. Educational field trips help make that connection between the material students are learning and real life. Field trips can be expensive but it is worth it in the long run.
School field trips are a perfect supplement to lessons in the classroom. They give students the opportunity to have first-hand experiences and to explore the world. A field trip is especially effective if it supplements lessons already learned in the classroom. Students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of a subject when a field trip shows them their classroom lessons in action. Prompt: Medical researchers, cosmetic companies, and other often perform experiments on animals. Many people feel that experimentation on animals is wrong and should be stopped immediately because animals do feel pain, and there are other alternatives. How do you feel? State your position and explain your reasons.
For many years medical researchers have done experiments on animals that are necessary for the safety of humans as well as animals. Animals and people get many of the same illnesses. Certain types of animals can stand in for humans with particular diseases. The information we gain from these studies about how we’re the same and how we’re different benefits people and animals (National institution for health).
The most important thing is that the research must be relevant to human or animal health. Studies need to protect the animals’ welfare. That means that only the fewest number of the most appropriate species may be used. Under federal law, all animals must be treated humanely and undergo the least distress possible. Some vaccines for diseases such as polio and rabbis have been discovered through animal research and have come to save the lives of many humans as well as animals.
Medical researchers who have Ph.D., D.V.M., or M.D. degrees oversee animal research studies. These scientists study animals because they are a lot like people when it comes to basic body functions like breathing, eating, hearing, and seeing. That’s because nature is extremely economical. Throughout vast evolutionary time—from bacteria to plants to people—the same biological processes are recycled over and over.
Veterinarians with specialized training in laboratory animal medicine are an integral part of a medical research team. As part of this research group, veterinarians assure the humane treatment of animals and provide medical and surgical support throughout research studies. Emergency veterinary care for research animals is available on a 24-hour basis.
In all animal research is necessary for the wellness of animals and humans. It is carefully planned and ensures animals well. It is completely humane and right when done by professionals for the right reasons.

Point of views:
“The boy with the brown eye blues” isn’t narrated by anyone in the story. It’s told in the first person point of view.
Character analysis:
Bryan James is the main character in this short story. He’s successful, intelligent, charming, popular, and all around good kid. Bryans only downfall is his abuse of the hearts of women.
Brianna is the main attraction in the short story “boy with the brown eye blues”. Brianna isn’t very popular. She is a great student and an exceptional basketball player but no one notices her.
Plot/central conflict:
“The boy with the brown eye blues” is about a very popular guy named Bryan James. He is the apple of almost every girl’s eye. Bryan also almost dated every girl at his school. One day on Bryan’s way to school, he see the most beautiful girl has ever seen in his life; Brianna; its love at first sight. As Bryan tries to approach her bell rings, but she moves so swiftly that he couldn’t reach her. All Bryan knew about Brianna was she had these decadently beautiful amber brown eyes. The main conflict that develops as the story progresses is that when Bryan finally reaches Brianna and asks her out on a date she turns him down. This crushed Bryan, after that day he developed the brown eye blues. Bryan’s main struggle was trying to win Brianna’s heart. In the end, Bryan succeeds and they live happily after.
Setting:
The boy with the brown eye blues takes place in the year 2011 and at Christopher High school.
Ending:
The main conflict of “The boys with the brown eye blues” is resolved when Bryan takes Brianna on a date and wins her heart over. Once he won her heart he was rid of the brown eye blues.

Bryan James is a tall dark and handsome young man with a gorges smile. He’s successful at everything he does, life just come easy to him. He’s the student body president, captain of the football, basketball and lacrosse team. Bryan is also the perfect child his parents just love him. He’s motivated and driven to be the best all around. Every girl falls head over heels in love with him at first sight. They love the music he loves, the food he eats, the way he walks, talks, and even the way he sneezes. Bryans charm is undeniable and everyone knows it.
Like any other day Bryan gets up for school, drives his very expensive car there, parks then walks to class, but on his way there he saw the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen in his life. To anyone else she is just the average nobody on the social latter. She has great grades and plays basketball but she is very shy and keeps to herself. Bryan had to know her; he had to know her name. As he began to approach her the bell rang and she was a swift as the wind walking to class. Bryan could not catch up to her it’s almost as if she disappeared.
The next day at school Bryan ask all his friend about the girl he saw on his way to class but no one knew who she was. Bryan was a part of the “in” crowd, the friends he hung with thought of themselves as superior to everyone outside of their crew. All Bryan could think about was “the girl he saw on his way to class”, that was her name to him amongst other names such as beautiful, lovely, and his favorite brown eyes. When Bryan first saw her what drew him into her were her beautiful brown eyes. They were deep set, almond shaped, and a beautiful deep brown. They glistened in the light and twinkled in his heart as he thought of her.
Bryan was walking to his locker when he saw her again. He knew that it was his chance to talk to her. As he approached her she gave him this questioning look. Bryan started the conversation with a question. He asked her what her name was she replied Brianna. Bryan’s heart almost burst when he heard her name. He thought that their names went beautifully together; Bryan and Brianna. He asked her on a date and she flat out turned him down. Bryan couldn’t believe it. He always got what he wanted. While Bryan was in the middle of asking why, she walked away. He caught up to her to explain how he really wanted to get to know her and then she cut him off saying that she would not be another one of his many girlfriends. This just crushed Bryan, when she walked away again he wanted to follow her, but his feet wouldn’t move.
After Bryans encounter with Brianna he wasn’t the same guy he used to be. He didn’t feel like doing anything but going to his room and listening to music. He was really down. All Bryan could think about was what Brianna said about the girls he talked to. He realized that he did have a lot girlfriend and their relationships didn’t last long. He felt bad and he knew if he really wanted to be with Brianna he would have to change. Bryan decided to change the people he hung out with. He tried being alone for once to see how it would work out. Also, he stopped talking to the girls he was dating; he hoped that Brianna noticed what he was doing for her.
Bryan was driving home from football practice when he saw Brianna walking home. He slowed then pulled over to offer her a ride. Brianna considered saying no but she had just finished basketball practice and her feet hurt so she got in to the car. Bryan was elated. He knew that this was his chance to convince her that he wasn’t a player. After Bryan finished his argument Brianna decided to go on a date with him.
Brianna really liked Bryan but the reason why she rejected him in the beginning was because she was scared that he would treat her wrong. She was nervous for their date she wondered what Bryan had in mind for their date. At around eight Bryan pulled up to her home and knocked on the door. Brianna came out it a beautiful cream dress, matching shoes, and her grandmother’s pearls. Bryan was amazed at her he always thought she was beautiful but this just topped her beauty off. Bryan took her to the hottest restaurant in town called “Hibachi” for a nice dinner then to the play “What I’ve given” which was sold out for weeks. After their date Bryan asked Brianna to be his girlfriend. As Bryan anticipated Brianna’s answer his hands were sweating and his heart was pounding when she said yes he was so happy and relieved. Ever since Bryan and Brianna’s first date they’ve been happy to together ever since and Bryan no longer had the brown eye blues; he had her in his arms.

oh no a dino
imagine you woke up and saw a dinosuar in your back yard. wright a story telling what you see
i woke up around 3 in the mourning to get some juice when i passed the back dooor i tought i saw somthing huge but i didnt pay any attention because i was half sleep. on my way back to my room i was full awake and then i saw it again a huge purple dinosuar. i fainted and thats all i could remember

i would start off by marinateing my chicken in a chile lime sauce for about six hours then i would put the chicken in a cast iron pan on low until its cooked to tenderness then i could add in some chile con carne and refried beans let the ingredients merry together warm some flour tortilla shell over an open flame wrap then serve

compare and contrast public school and home school
personally i believe that being home school is a harmful thing in some cases because the child that is home school wont be able to correctly develope social skills. also i believe that when students are home schooled there instructor is more leniant and there is more room for error. i believe that public schools give the students a chance to make friends and create there social skills. aslo public school applies more pressure on student to do well as apposed to home schooling. but the pros to being home schooled is that you dont have to worry about the ratiois of students to teacher because the student gets 100% one on one attention.
personally i believe that being home school is a harmful thing in some cases because the child that is home school wont be able to correctly develope social skills. also i believe that when students are home schooled there instructor is more leniant and there is more room for error. i believe that public schools give the students a chance to make friends and create there social skills. aslo public school applies more pressure on student to do well as apposed to home schooling. but the pros to being home schooled is that you dont have to worry about the ratiois of students to teacher because the student gets 100% one on one attention.

you are about to spend a year abroad and must learn a new languege describe the step that you would take to accomplish as quickly ass possible

A few years ago there would be events where people would pay there hard earned money to watch people krump and compete againt other krump dancers. This fad lastest last up until a few years ago then shortly there after jerking came to the attention of many teens today. A wide verity of music that was being listened to where jerking songs. Jerking did not last as long a krumoing did aand people bekieve it got played out very quickly. Whn people would jerk the would add there own personal twist to it and mad it there own. describe the most lucious decadent dessert you can imagine.
Ingredients
Caramel Sauce:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 pints vanilla ice cream
- 6 crushed chocolate sandwich cookies (recommended: Oreo)
- 6 crushed chocolate chip cookies
- 6 tablespoons chocolate chips
- 1/4 cups chopped pecans
Directions
Caramel sauce: Heat the sugar in a heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally for about 7 minutes. It will slowly turn golden brown. Carefully whisk in the whipping cream. Add butter and vanilla extract and cook for 1 more minute. Can be stored up to 2 weeks, if covered tightly and refrigerated.
Scoop ice cream into 4 ice cream sundae bowls. Top with the crushed cookies, chocolate chips, chopped pecans and caramel sauce.

in order to achieve sucess at anything you have to take your time and perpare and thats what i plan to do for my college admissions test. im going to perpae my self for a long time. in not going to cram everything because nine times out of ten it wont work.

It is important to be able to use all of the controls smoothly and efficiently. Don’t be happy with the fact that you can change gear. This should be done without jerking your passengers about in the car.
Likewise when braking, accelerating and cornering you don’t want to see them swaying about all over the place. This isn’t SKILLFUL driving. This is probably how you will drive when you start learning and it will continue that way for a considerable time; but with practice it should improve.
Try and think of the last time you were in a car, and when the driver stopped you didn’t even feel it come to rest. To do that consistently takes SKILL and CONCENTRATION. The next time you are out with your partner, suggest pulling up at a convenient place on the left, so that neither of you can feel the car stop, then swap over and you try to do it.
Take this a step further using the rest of the controls including steering, and watch your passengers to see if they are jerking about in their seats. If they are, do something about it, master your controls. Drive smoothly.
The positioning of the car on the road when cornering as well as being in the correct gear and at the right speed are all very important not only from the passenger's comfort point of view, but for the balance of the vehicle. This manoeuvre does not necessarily have to be carried out at slow speeds, but it should always be safe. The general rule is slow in and quick out of bends, but this is when your SKILLS have been developed to a considerable standard. It is so easy to get it wrong and finish up in the hedge bottom. No doubt many of us have seen cars that have come to grief along the roadside and very rarely is it the fault of the vehicle. lauryn was born in jersey she was the youngest bof two childre.. her mother was a school teacher and her dad worked with computers. very early on lauryn had an ear for music. she used to listen to her parent 1960 mowtown records. lauryn was on the show showtime at the apollo singing her own rendition of smoky robisons whos loveing you. at the begginig she was booed tremendously but by the end of her preformances she won the crowd over and recieved a huge round of applause.
i believe that this event contributed to her success because it tested her strenght and perseverance. it helped her figure out that she can do anything no matter what the crowd says she can control her own destiny..and choose her own ways of life

what special about you explain what makes you unique individual.
i contain a unique gift with in me that makes me unique from anyone else. im multi talented i sing and play basketball.. i love to sing it helps me release my stress and helps me relax. i thank god everyday that he blessed me with this gift of a voice. i dont think i ever will take it for granted. i try to share my gift with everyone who wants to listen. being unique is a gift in itself. no one should be ashamed of thier differences from anyone else they should embrace who they are. my mind heart and soul are the things that makes mr different unique weird and evrything else
